Stylist to the Stars

My gorgeous friend Markus was the one to call when I had to renovate my nursery. We had a small budget, some nursery basics in chocolate brown wood and a spare double bed in the room for when this Mamma had to feed bubba overnight. This  Interior Designer is my go to man for events, fabulous interiors and amazing pieces for my home. He recently completed my office for work, but that’s another story.

The main problem were the blush pink toned walls… unfortunately with renting this space we have to keep the 80’s caravan colour (???!!!) so some simple stick on decals were the way to go. Markus went with a striking but fun Cowboy and Indian theme, using my favourite turquoise colour, and his love of monochrome we had our colour palate. The man of the house also approved thinking we had chosen his favourite sports team colours. And no baby blue duck egg to be seen, thank god.

.Babies respond to black and white in the early days so it was a great choice, still looks like a little boy room for the next year or so as he grows. The secret to Markus’s magic was the use of Kmart (#Kmarkus) our favourite fast fashion shop for cheap style on a budget. If you take away the cost of furniture,  (mainly the white leather Eames Chairand ottoman that I already owned and the cot and change table  bought new together for $400) we spent about $300 at Kmart. Markus knows how to put a room together in a way I never could. Thank god I have him on speed dial. So for way under $800 we had our nursery sorted.

From the mobile, lighting, storage,   rugs to crawl on, chairs, floor cushions and play areas, our little man’s room started to feel like a real space rather than a rented granny caravan. A few different spaces to play, to sleep, to change and to feed. Hours of fun on a budget and a room that can grow with him.
